This Crisαlide jewel is a unique and unrepeatable piece

Waves is a necklace inspired by the fluid movement of the sea: it celebrates the calm, lightness and continuous transformation of water.

Waves is a necklace inspired by the fluid movement of the sea: it celebrates the calm, lightness, and continuous transformation of water. Fifteen white and blue porcelain discs are arranged along a composition of natural moonstones, creating a harmonious balance between shapes, colours, and luminous reflections.

The stones are hand-strung using the traditional knotting technique, which involves a knot between each element, recalling the elegance of pearl necklaces. The blue silk thread runs through the entire necklace, enhancing the delicacy of the porcelain and the milky luminosity of the stones. The necklace features a central back clasp in 925 silver.

Each element has been meticulously handmade by Roberta, making each necklace unique and one-of-a-kind. Conceived, designed, and individually sculpted from raw porcelain, then painted and glazed or left matte depending on the desired effect. The porcelain is then fired up to four times, through a long and delicate process that gives strength and uniqueness to each creation.

Slight variations in shape, colour, and texture attest to the authentic value of artisanal craftsmanship.

First step

Unglazed porcelain and modeling

Porcelain is a living material: it reacts to hands, to time, to the stages of the process. Even before becoming a jewel, it is clay to be worked. Each element is created by hand, defining its structure, proportions, and shape through precise and repeated movements.

Second step

Slow drying

After modelling, the piece must dry slowly at a controlled room temperature. This phase cannot be rushed: porcelain needs its time to eliminate all residual moisture and avoid internal tensions that would cause breakages during firing.

Third step

First firing - the biscuit

The first firing takes place at around 900°C. At this temperature, the piece stabilizes: it becomes solid yet still porous, ready to receive glazes and finishes. A light hand-sanding follows before proceeding. This is the moment when porcelain stops being clay and becomes something definitive.

Fourth step

Glazing and application of finishes

It is during this stage that each piece acquires its chromatic identity. Enamels, oxides, lustres: each element is applied by hand with a brush, in successive layers.

Fifth step

Second Firing - Vitrification

The main firing takes place between 1270 and 1280°C. At that temperature, the porcelain vitrifies, reaching its characteristic compactness, strength, and translucence. It changes color, weight, and structure.

Last step

Finishing firings and the final jewel

When the piece requires it, a third and sometimes a fourth firing follow to fix decorations, lustres, or other low-temperature details. Each pass in the kiln brings with it variables impossible to control completely. And it is in this space that the authentic beauty of every Crisalide jewel is born.

Each element is individually sculpted: there is no common mold, no identical repeated setting. Each enamel is applied by hand, every detail in luster is refined gesture by gesture. Each firing brings with it variables that cannot be completely controlled.

The result is that no two Crisalide jewels are identical. Not in the exact shape, not in the precise color, not in the surface texture. What might seem like a limitation is instead the most authentic value of each piece: it carries with it the time, concentration, and presence of a person who has chosen to do things with intention.
